I think it's really good. It's one of the most difficult and most strict game I've played, but it's heavily rewarding when ever you do something great. The bosses are fantastic to fight against, the gameplay is unique and rewarding, and the fact that game only gets more challenging the more you progress makes it all for the better.

Just remeber that it's very strict on everything and it's very unforgiving if you make a mistake (I made 1 mistake once and it costed me all of my progress and I was forced to start over.). Also if you can I suggest you buy Dark Souls, it's made from the same people of Demon's Souls, the only difference and is some changes to the gameplay and it's even more strict.

If its more strict I think I'd prefer Demon's Souls.

It's not that much stricker. The two things that are more strict in Dark Souls is the checkpoint system and the magic. One thing that Demon's Souls is a lot stricter on than Dark Souls is the dying system because in Demon's Souls.
